How to wash and care for flags with Proflagi

What our flags are made of and what it means when washing them

• Polyester for sublimation - the most common in beachflags. The color penetrates the fiber and is resistant to washing.

• Polyester coated/UV - a strong material for outdoor display. Print lies on the surface - wash more gently.

• Blockout/double-sided - thicker, with a layer that blocks light penetration. Treat like delicate technical fabrics.

Always remove mast, snap hooks, weights and lines before washing.

Washing - step by step

1. Scrape off sand and dust. Rinse dried dirt first with lukewarm water.

2. Soak 15-20 minutes in lukewarm water with a mild detergent for synthetic fabrics.

3. Washing machine: delicate program, 30°C (max 40°C for heavy dirt), 400-600 rpm.

4. Measures: gentle liquid for colors. No bleach, chlorine, oxygen stain removers, no softeners.

5. By hand: light kneading, do not twist the flag like a towel.

6. Spot stains:

   • mud - rinse with water, only then wash

   • bird stains - remove fresh, soak in a solution of water with mild soap

   • grease - a drop of dish liquid on the stain, 10 minutes, rinse and wash

What to avoid

• Tumble dryer and heaters - they can deform the fabric and print.

• Heavy rubbing with a brush and washing with hard parts (locks, buckles).

• Strong spinning above 800 rpm.

• Long soaking in hot water - shortens the life of the fibers.

Drying

• Preferably flat or hung up, in airy shade.

• Avoid harsh sun while drying - colors will retain saturation longer.

• Make sure the flag is completely dry before folding.

Ironing and preparation for exposure

• If necessary - low temperature iron for synthetics, through a cotton cloth.

• Do not press hard on the edges with the hem, do not use steam spot on the seams.

• With beachflags, most often a light stretching on the mast is enough - wrinkles disappear after a few minutes.

Storage and transportation

• Always clean and dry.

• Fold loosely wrapped in a roll or in a soft cover - you will avoid sharp bends.

• Store in a dry room, away from heat sources and UV rays.

• Keep masts and bases separately so they don't rub the print.

Field operation - how to extend the life

• In high winds above about 6 degrees Beaufort, remove the flag - this protects the fabric and stitching.

• Avoid contact with sharp edges, make sure the flagpole is properly tensioned and straight.

• After rain, allow the flag to dry before folding.

• For dusty venues, schedule a wash every 2-4 weeks.

Quick check-list after the event

• Remove accessories and fixtures

• Shake off and rinse off dust

• Wash gently - 30°C, mild detergent

• Dry in the shade, without wringing

• Roll up loosely and put away in a dry pouch

FAQ

Does washing wash out the colors?
Sublimation printing is very resistant - washing at 30°C will not cause fading. Clean UV prints more gently, avoid rubbing.

Can I use a stain remover?
No. Use a mild color remover and spot action with dish liquid next to the grease.

Can the beachflag be dried on the mast?
Yes, but in the shade and without strong wind - the material should not "batter" against the edges.
